Electrical Panel Upgrades

Older or fully occupied panels may need attention when you add major appliances, a basement suite or new circuits. We review available capacity, panel condition and project requirements before recommending a replacement or service upgrade. A 200-amp upgrade is not automatically necessary.

Planning a Level 2 home EV charger? We review electrical service capacity, circuit routing, charger location and load-management options. The project photo shows a wall-mounted charger beside an electrical panel, with a charging cable reaching the vehicle. Your home still needs its own electrical assessment before installation.

Pot Lights & Interior Lighting

Pot lights can improve task lighting and the feel of a room, but fixture spacing is only part of the decision. Ceiling access, insulation compatibility, dimmers, circuit conditions and patching needs should be reviewed before installation.

Renovation Electrical Work

Kitchen, basement and whole-home renovations often need new receptacle locations, lighting circuits, dedicated appliance connections and coordination with other trades. Reviewing the electrical plan before drywall closes helps avoid unnecessary changes later.

ELECTRICAL PLANNING GUIDE

Electrical Project Guidance for Richmond Hill Homeowners.

Three practical starting points for Richmond Hill homeowners. Every property is different, so recommendations should follow an assessment of the existing electrical system.

Electrical breaker panel and wiring01
PANEL & CAPACITY

Do you actually need a 200-amp upgrade?

A new appliance or EV charger doesn't automatically mean your service must be upgraded. Existing demand, equipment and future plans should be reviewed first.

HOME EV CHARGING

Plan the circuit before choosing a charger.

Before choosing a charger, review service capacity, installation distance and load-management options. This garage charging setup shows how equipment placement and cable reach can affect day-to-day use.

LIGHTING DESIGN

Better pot lights start with a better layout.

Ceiling height, beam spread, room use and natural light all influence fixture spacing. The goal is comfortable, useful light—not simply more fixtures.

Nothing is better than finding a tradesperson who truly loves their work. He was professional, highly skilled, and went above and beyond to help me. Typically my late father would have been the one to manage these kinds of projects. Its hard to find someone who has the same kind of standards i am use accustomed too.

We couldn’t be more grateful to have found 24/7 Electrical Service. On a Saturday afternoon, a circuit shorted in our new home, and we called several companies offering emergency electrical services. Not only was 24/7 Electrical’s pricing the most competitive, but Moe, the electrician who answered our call, was the only one who asked thorough questions and reviewed photos of the issue to ensure we truly needed someone on site.

24/7 Electrical Service Inc is outstanding. We asked them to upgrade our electrical panel and their work was exceptional. When our next contractor came to add a connection to the panel they commented what a good job was done. When that second contractor left something undone 24/7 came back promptly and finished their work. These guys are awesome. They do great work and you can trust them.

I needed to upgrade my electrical panel and began a search for electrical contractors online, and came across 24/7 Electrical Service Inc where I spoke to Moe. From the very beginning Moe was friendly and very informative. The work couldn't be done right away because we were waiting to be scheduled by the power company for power shut down. But through the whole process Moe handled all applications and communications with the power company, all while keeping me informed as to where the process currently was. In the end Moe and another electrician came through and completed the work. It was well done, with the wires neatly placed and at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend their service.

Moe was so nice and professional! He immediately knew what to do and took care of it easily! It almost felt like having an uncle come over to fix my burnt out socket. I felt in good hands and I could trust him to do a great job! He was very honest and a complete pleasure to work with!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Richmond Hill Electrical Services: Common Questions.

Answers to common questions from Richmond Hill homeowners. Electrical work must be assessed against the actual installation and applicable Ontario requirements.

Do I need a permit for electrical work in Richmond Hill?

Many electrical installations and alterations in Ontario require a notification to the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), and inspection requirements vary. The applicable process depends on the work and who performs it. Ask your Licensed Electrical Contractor which notifications and inspections are included in the scope, and confirm requirements with ESA.

Does every home EV charger need a panel upgrade?

No. Whether an upgrade is needed depends on the existing electrical service, household demand and the charging equipment. A load assessment can help determine suitable options, including potential load-management solutions.

What affects the cost of an electrical panel upgrade?

Important factors include service size, panel location, existing wiring conditions, utility coordination, equipment and any associated work. A reliable estimate should be based on the actual installation rather than a generic price.

Can pot lights be installed in a finished ceiling?

Often, yes, but access, joist layout, insulation, fixture ratings and wiring routes affect the approach. Some installations may require additional ceiling access or repairs.

Which areas around Richmond Hill are covered?

Richmond Hill is our primary service area. We also consider residential projects in Vaughan, Markham, Aurora and Newmarket, subject to scheduling and project scope. Contact us with your address to confirm coverage.
